    Hi,

You have not specified any academic details or desired program making it difficult for me to guide you.Universities abroad look for a student who is enthusiastic, positive, focused, committed as well as adaptive to situations and atmosphere apart from a good academic profile.

Your GPA scores, transcripts/marksheets , present an overall picture of you as high school student and a bachelor making it easier for admission commit to decide upon the kind of student you have been. Apart from this , your test scores such as GRE ,GMAT , IELTS / TOEFL further enhance your profile as an international applicant.

A profile with a strong academic, extra curricular activities , or research work done (if you are going for a PhD or in the subject that requires some sort of pre-research work) , internships taken, any relevant work experience is always appreciated. But this doe not mean that students with no work experience, or internships or so are not given priority. It all depend upon the kind of a program that you are applying or wish to apply that determines all these factors.

hence, it is important for me as a counselor to know your complete profile and other achievements so that I can guide you with relevant information. This can be done just by filling up a short form through our Learnhub College Finder Tool

To educate you more on Study Abroad, we have our set of FAQs for different countries such as USA, UK and Canada which you can check out for sure. Here are the links:

    Hi Rupal,

I would also like to know which better for me…?

I have done my BE-EEE with 74 % and IT profession with 2.5yrs experience.

If i want to switch my job profile from totally technical to management sector then i would be happy… will MS in MIS/CS help me?

I have already given GRE but could not score more than 1100.
Above what score will i get scholarship?

what will be the total expense with the living cost without scholarship.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Your primary concern at this point of time should be to pursue education, career as per your career goals and interest. Since you have a background in Electrical engineering and if the same interests you, you should pursue a Masters in the same.

However, if management is your ultimate goal, an MBA can be considered since you have work experience of 2.5 years. However, you should then consider taking the GMAT and not the GRE. You can access the links below for better preparation ad guidance :

    GRE 2010
    GMAT

Generally, on an average the tuition fees for a Masters degree can range from $18,000 to $30,000 per annum. The living cost for an international applicant usually comes around $1000 per annum.

Outstanding scores on the standardized tests can enhance your chances for scholarship or some kind of financial aid from the universities. Also, for your information learnhub offers a good amount of scholarship provided they meet with the eligibility criteria. To find out more on the same, please access the following link:

Do get back to us for further guidance.

    Take care!

    Hello,

Your overall score on the GRE is good enough to consider the US universities. However, a sectional breakup would help the evaluation better against the requirements of the universities.

More importantly, you need to analyze your future goals. What is your purpose for a higher education? If you are seeking to strengthen your knowledge domain in the field, then go ahead for the Masters. But if you are considering to polish your management skills, understand the Business operations etc. that is, if your aim is to reach the management sectors like Sales, Marketing, Human Resource Management or even IT then do consider MBA.

Also, since you have taken GRE, though acceptable for both MS and MBA programs, options are more while considering Masters than an MBA since majority of the B-schools would be considering a GMAT. However, since you seem to have a sound profile you could consider the B-schools that accept GRE scores as well.

Now since the requirements vary for MS or MBA, kindly consider your priorities and get back to us with your decision so that we may guide you further.

    Take care!

Hi, my opinion is its always safe to have some work exp before going for any professional degree. Apart from making your profile more suitable and upto mark, work exp gives boost your confidence too. You will be able to find some part time work based on your exp.
To answer your question, it varies from university to university. Some ask for work exp and some don't.

    Hello Abhishek,

I feel the most appropriate path would be to understand what each program has to offer and the work profile you can expect once you complete the course.

A Business Analyst (BA) is one analyzes the organization and design of businesses, government departments, and non-profit organizations. They hold the role to assess business models and their integration with technology and the work profile varies from what a MBA say in Sales is framed on.

If you aspire to be a Business analyst the you can consider a number of certificate and diploma progamme to acquaint with the essential fundamentals. Despite the specified difference, once you are a professional business analyst, an MBA can be a good choice if you are looking to expand your knowledge and experience and develop skills such as Business acumen, Communication skills, Niche expertise and of course Management abilities. Also, while an MBA facilitates the efforts of Business Analyst and helps them gain certain skills and enhance certain others they are not the path way to become a Business Analyst.

MBA in Sales is a post graduate course which aims at building managerial abilities among individual and is concerned with the market and sales department of the organization. Solely relying on the MBA in Sales one can consider placement for the management positions in various multinational companies and since you have an inclination in the IT industry you can consider some renowned software companies like Wipro, IBM, HCl and other such MNC’s.

Now with regard to the Management information systems, it is often regarded to be a subset of the overall internal controls procedures in a business. Though generally MIS is a general term for the computer systems in an enterprise that provide information about its business operations, in a large corporation, it is an extensive department that refers to a central or centrally-coordinated system of computer expertise and management, often including mainframe systems but also including by extension the corporation's entire network of computer resources.

Considering the description stated above and your professional background, MIS or the Business Analyst seems to be the apt choice. However, as an individual you are the best person to judge your interest.

Do get back to us in case of further queries.

    Good luck!

    Hello Parvathi,

Please note work experience is not an eligibility criteria or admission requirement to consider a Masters degree from US.

However, since you have graduated in the year 2008, it would be necessary to suffice with details on your activities from then to date, the purpose for the delay etc. in your statement of purpose. In simple words, you need to convince the universities why should they consider your application amongst all the applications they receive.

Apart from this you should also, begin with the preparation for the standardized test GRE and either of the English Proficiency Test (TOEFL / IELTS) to meet with the eligibility criteria for a Masters. For more detailed information and professional guidance on the specified test, you may access the following links :

    GRE
    TOEFL
    IELTS

I want to pursue my higher studies in management in the year 2012 summer,By then i will have more than 20 months of experience. But i came across to know the course MS in MIS.I have already given a shot in GRE. And have scored 1100, with a TOFEL score of 90. Can you please advice me on what are the scopes of doing MS in MIS in US universities.

    Hello,

In reference to your query, MIS programs abroad generally accept both GRE as well GMAT scores.

But as this is a Masters program you can go ahead with GRE. GRE is accepted by all Universities offering MS MIS.

Other than standardized test scores MIS program requirements at times include work experience too. Though it is not mandatory but your admission chances would always be good with a work experience of an year or so.

Hope the above given information helps!
