    Hello Wethakeerthi,

Thanks for approaching Learnhub for your queries!

For better assessment of your profile kindly share your GRE individual section scores. Aggregate GRE score is decent.

Some of the top Universities offering management information systems program are as follows:

    1. Syracuse University
    2. University of Michigan Ann Arbor
    3. Drexel University
    4. University of Washington
    5. University of Illinois Urbana Champaign

Admissions into Information Systems program are based on your GRE/GMAT scores and work experience if any. I believe you wish to apply as a fresher for the program. There are many Universities offering MIS program where work experience is not mandatory.

As mentioned above kindly let me know your GRE individual section scores and work experience details if any.

This will help me to suggest Universities appropriate for you.

Looking forward to your revert on this.

    All the Best!

    Hi,

I have around of 6 years of IT experience. I have done B.Tech witth 78 % in chemical Engineering. I am planning to write GRE exam this year.
    I have three Questions:
Am I eligible to do MS in computer science in USA?
I learned about MIS, it suits my profile too as I am working as a senior consultant/team lead in my current firm. Do you think MS in MIS would be a good option for me?
What is difference between 'MBA in MIS' & 'MS in MIS'?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hello Namrata,

Thanks for writing to learn hub for your study abroad queries!

You seem to have a very vast experience in IT Industry. Based on your rich experience, MS MIS would be a logical extension to your work experience.

Admissions into Masters in Computer Science would be difficult. If you have keen interest to apply for the same, then a GRE subject test in Computer Science is recommended.

MIS on the other hand is offered as a Masters program only but it is basically interdisciplinary in approach as its curriculum addresses to both technical and managerial concepts.

There are no such programs with MBA MIS, MIS in itself is a management program only.

For admissions into MIS program you can take either GMAT or GRE as both these scores are acceptable.

in case you have plans to apply soon i.e. in coming spring or fall, you can post your comments further for us to take this discussion ahead.

We would be happy to answer other queries in this regard.

Share your academic credentials and scores on standardized tests if taken already.

Hope to hear from you soon!

    Hello Pratyusha,

Your academics have quite strong as of now. Research experience also seems to be good as you have published three papers in journals.

As you are currently pursuing your bachelors degree in ECE, US definitely should get first priority among other countries. Reason being the country excels in education for engineering and technology programs.

Coming over to the other preferred countries, England may not be a good option as post work permit in UK is still questionable.

Australia is good from the reasons that Australian economy is doing very well as is revealed by the strong Australian Dollar. From education perspective, top Universities in Australia have always found place among the top Universities world wide. University of Melbourne, The University of New South Wales, Monash University and The University of Sydney appear in the top 50 Universities for Electrical Engineering discipline as per QS World University Ranking.

Australia is a good option to be considered if you plan to settle down abroad.

Singapore is good but admissions are tough because many students apply to the most popular Asian Universities NUS and NTU.

Coming over to the scholarships, there are no specific scholarship seats. Based on your merit and availability of funds with the Universities, students are offered financial assistance. The amount received thus is variable. It may be as high as that your entire tuition fees is waived off. Also there is no guarantee that all students get some sort of financial assistance. But yes during the course of your degree program you can look for such opportunities.

You can consider Learnhub's Counseling Services for that matter to get consultation into how you can improve your chances to get financial assistance from the Universities you apply to.

You can check more on Learnhub Counseling. Post your comments for further inquiries.

You can write to me at ankita.arora@learnhub.com in order to get in touch with our counseling team to know more on our counseling services.

Hope to hear from you soon!

    Hello Thomas,

Thanks for approaching Learnhub for your study abroad queries!

Well yes GRE scores are a little low specifically quant section score ideally should be above 155. Work experience on the other hand is a plus point.

As you are considering Syracuse University, admissions are tough into the top iSchool in US.

In order to consider the top Universities, you need to retake GRE for better prospects.

With current credentials you can consider applying to the following Universities:

    Bentley University
    Claremont University
    Stevens Institute of Technology
    Florida International University

Feel free to write back for any further enquiries in this regard.
