    Hello Neha,

Since you are likely to consider the Fall 2015 session (Aug-Sep 2015), it is a bit too early to suggest universities. Remember the standing of the universities (subject wise) is revised yearly and what may be suitable to a profile for the current session may not be applicable a year later. The same is applicable while considering estimated expenses for higher education in US.

Now with regard to the differences between MA and MS, well, if I have to constrict to Psychology, while both are quite similar the former (Master of Arts degree -MA) has a strong emphasis on the humanities, theoretical and general knowledge in a recognized discipline, interdisciplinary field, or of a professional study and the latter (Master in Science degree-MS) is more of a focused approach with a science base to include a balance of liberal arts, technological knowledge, math and computer oriented skills, and practical skills needed for a particular discipline within the field.

However, a lot depends on the institution considered and the perspective of the university to work on the curriculum.

Now with regard to the prospects, thanks to the general awareness on the need of subject in our lives, the scope of Psychology unlike the recent times prospects in the field is gearing up across the globe and is not limited to few locations like USA, UK etc.! Now depending on the specialization you opt for, you can work in a number of different settings, including universities and colleges, primary and secondary schools, government agencies, private industry, hospitals, clinics, and private practices. Employment in social welfare organizations, research establishments, rehabilitation centres, prisons, child/ youth guidance centres, advertising industry and in a variety of other set-ups can also be considered.

However, you must remember that along with a genuine interest in people, their behavior and have empathy for their problems you should have good communication skills, patience, ability to work with all kinds of social/ cultural and age groups. As a psychologist one is expected to be sensitive and caring and also have the ability to understand people of very different backgrounds and upbringing.

I hope the above stated helps you assess you path for yourself. Also, ensure you have taken the test takes (Revised Pattern-GRE, Test of English as a Foreign Language-TOEFL / International English Language Testing Systems-IELTS) by the end of third year so that you enough for other proceedings.

    Good luck!
