How long does it take for the scores to reach the university?

You can see your unofficial Verbal and Quantitative scores at the test center immediately after the exam if you have appeared for Computer based test; however, because of the essay scoring process, you will not be able to view your Analytical Writing scores at that time. Verbal, Quantitative and Analytical Writing scores on the computer-based General Test will be sent to you and the institutions you designate within 10 to 15 days of your test administration.

If anyone gets 750+(Quant) in Powerprep, does it guarentee that given such ability s/he will get this score in actual gre exam? do anyone me help plz.. my exam is knocking me.. if this is not the case I have to read a lot again….

Should I cancel my GRE scores ?

After the computer based General test , you can choose to cancel your score if you think you have not been able to perform well on GRE.If you cancel your scores, they will not be reported to you or any score recipients, and no refund will be made. Canceled scores are not added to your permanent record. Your scores will be reported to GRE score recipients only at your request.

However , you should be very careful before you choose to cancel the scores. You cannot cancel your score for one section of the test and have the scores for the remaining sections reported. If you wish to take the test again, you must re-register and submit another test fee.

Is it possible to reinstate the cancelled scores?

Scores canceled by you can be reinstated if your request is received at ETS within 60 days after your test date. You may fax or mail a written request to GRE Inquiries :

Your request must include :

- Name

- Date of birth

- Daytime phone number

- Test date

- Registration number

- Payment and up to four free score recipients.

Include the appropriate department codes and indicate what scores you want sent. You may choose to send only General Test scores, only Subject Test scores or both.

A fee of $30 is charged for score reinstatement .

Should I apply even if I get low GRE score?

All aspects of the application are considered while evaluating your application for admission. This includes GRE scores, previous academic performance, rigor of previous academic programs and institutions, recommendations, career and volunteer experience, and commitment to one’s chosen field. For instance, high GPA or superior letters of recommendation, excellent statement of purpose, etc., could possibly compensate for low GRE scores. Applicants might also consider retaking the GRE test. GRE score of 1100 doesn’t mean its low, if student was expecting to score 1300 in GRE and ended up getting 1130 then its considered low. In this case, it is advisable to take the exam again.

What if the institution to which I want to send my score after the exam is not listed ?

At the test center, you will be asked to designate your score recipients. If an institution is not listed, ask the test center administrator for the appropriate form to indicate unlisted institutions. Complete the form and turn it in before you leave the test center. The form will not be accepted after you leave the test center.
