Which session should I apply for: Fall or Spring? (Discussion)

deepa mittal saidSat, 20 Sep 2008 15:34:32 -0000 ( Link )

It is better to apply for Fall semester unless there are some exceptional circumstances. Applying for Fall offers following benefits:

1. More chances of getting a financial aid.

2. The academic year in US Universities begins with the Fall semester, so there are more seats available in Fall and hence more chances of admission being granted.

3. Most core courses are offered in Fall. So if you enroll in a spring session, you may find it a little difficult to plan your coursework.

Hitesh, you may get admission to average or fair universities with this score. But I would recommend you to work harder and score atleast above 1200 to get admission into a decent university.

    Hi Atul

There are a lot many universities in U.S, so getting acceptance is not difficult. But to which university you get admitted depends on your score,GPA, Statement of Purpose. The score around 1200 can get you into a good university provided you have good GPA, SOP and letter of recommendations.

    Good Luck!

    Dear palnsree,

Depending upon the GRE score, academic profile and the universities chosen by a student there are always chances to get a scholarship. For more information scholarships resources and how to apply for scholarships join our Scholarships & Financial Aid community. Yes for admission into most of the US universities you must give both GRE and TOEFL.

    Dear kapilmet,

You can apply for either Spring 2010 or Fall 2010. If you apply for Fall 2010 you will have ample time to apply for the universities and also depending upon your GRE score and other credentials you may even look out for a scholarship.

All the best for your exam.

    Regards

Yes, you can give GRE in dec 2009 but this way you will miss out few good universities that have deadlines in December. Though you can apply to universities having deadlines in Jan and Feb. So it is better to give the exam in November so that you do not miss out deadline of any university you may wish to apply.

Here is a list of universities offering M.S in Robotics

    1. University of Tennessee

    2. University of Southern California

    3. San Jose State University

    4. Ohio University

    5. Cornell University

    6. Carnegie Mellon University

    7. University of California-San Diego

You should work hard and aim to get score above 1400. Besides GRE score, there are other factors like SOP, GPA, recommendation letters that are taken into account while considering your application.
